Ryan Called

I finally spoke with Ryan today. He sounds like he is doing well, and is over the inital shock of the accident. In a couple of days they will take him to a physical therapy institue in Las Cruces where they will take care of him till he is able to function easily. From what my mom has told me he went into surgery the evening of his crash, and they were reluctant to do surgery so soon because all the blood was in his legs from racing all day. Now there is a metal rod in his leg. Supposedly he broke it just below the ball in the hip, which we are thankful for. I know he was in a tremendous amount of pain, and they finally decided to give him morphine. They already have him doing physical therapy which he said hurt pretty bad, but he is happy with the progress he's already made in such a short period of time. He told me that he was lying behind the guardrail for 10 minutes before after his crash. Dan Doornbos (a good local friend) heard him yelling for help. I guess no one could see or hear him. Poor thing. Thanks to Dan and everyone for their thoughts, calls, e-mails, hospital visits and word of concern.
I am up in Wisconsin finally, seems like it's taken forever to get here. Time passes so slowly when we wait for something to happen. Dave and I got a place, and will work on moving in this week. Once we get internet connection, I will put up photos from the past couple of weeks. Don't think I can do it on this computer because it lacks the hardware.
I'll also work on race reports from Athens, Roswell and Sunny King. I want to say congrats to my teammate Powers for her sprining abilities on Saturday. Now we know as well as you that you can do it.
