Rohan Jakob Thomas Grove

Hello Everyone,

Kevin, Kaleb, and I are excited to announce the birth of our son (and brother), Rohan (Ro-an) Jakob Thomas Grove. He was born at 3:55 a.m. on Saturday, August 18th after about 3 1/2 hours of rather painful labor... but fortunately with an epidural at the end!! 3 pushes and he came sliding into the world. He looks nothing like his brother, but is his own little man, weighing in at a whopping (ha ha ) 3.2 kg (approximately 7 lbs) and 50 cm (about 19.7 inches). A little heavier and a little longer than his brother, but barely!! Given that Kaleb was born 10 days early, and Rohan (by my recalculations) was born on his due date, we may have a little pip-squeak on our hands....
Big Brother Kaleb is loving on his little baby brother, and gives hugs (a little too much love sometimes!) and kisses, and wants to touch the tiny hands and feet. Rohan decided the only one worth opening his eyes for was his brother, and while Kaleb (now 2 yrs 3 months) held him, Rohan stared and stared and stared. He's a wonderful baby, and is so far a great sleeper, although we may regret the day-sleeping soon.
Kevin and I had a once in a lifetime experience this morning as we walked the 10 minutes to the hospital at 2:15 in the morning, ringing the bell to get into the hospital. I felt a little bit like Orphan Annie. It's rather surreal to be giving birth when you're never quite sure what's going on, and suddenly find out that you're having a baby within a half an hour of getting medication, and within an hour and a half of arriving at the hospital. I think we were a little shell-shocked!

We are 'stuck' here in the hospital until Monday, and they have me on a starvation diet.... sigh. I'd kill for waffles and pancakes!!!

We are all doing great now, and look forward to watching our two little men grow up together.
